I knew from the time I was a little girl that I wanted to be a stay at home mom. My mom was a single mother so I spent the majority of my childhood at babysitter's houses and daycare centers. I wanted better for my son. But when he turned 10 months old, I realized that I was going to need a break so that I could continue to enjoy it. So, when he was 11 months old I hired his first babysitter for 8 hrs a week which has been the perfect balance for us. My son's happy because he gets a change of scenery and to play with kids, and I'm happy because it was all I needed to be the best mom again when we're together. I'm so grateful that I'm able to do the most important profession there is: be a stay at home mom. I truly enjoy it (I'd go crazy if I had to work outside the home) and am 100% present & involved in my son's special life! But here you can read about my month of depression (which is what prompted me to get the babysitter; this also fell the same time I stopped breastfeeding so hormones may have contributed):
