On my son's first day of life we noticed a dimple in his neck. We didn't learn until two months later that it was a complete hole and so
surgery was recommended in order to prevent infection (because that could be serious). Fortunately, we were able to wait until he was 10 months old
(I encourage all parents to wait until their baby is 6-12 months rather than a newborn). Thankfully, the surgery was easy, painless, and successful!
